Today’s forecast calls for a high of 89, but a heat index in the high 90s, so stay hydrated and stop by some of the air-conditioned buildings at the fair to cool off, or enjoy one of the misting tents or misting stations on the fairgrounds for a refreshing break. There’s also a chance of rain, so keep an eye out and be ready to head into a building on the fairgrounds until any rain passes.
Because of the warm forecast, the noon youth fun run in the track area has been cancelled.
The big spectacle begins in Goshen west of downtown at 1:20 p.m., when the 36th Anniversary Parade 5,000 Road Run takes off from Rogers Park.
The parade will follow, working through downtown through the miles to the fairgrounds, ending up passing the grandstand starting at about 2:15 p.m.
There are plenty of afternoon 4-H events and demonstrations, a concerts in the park, and on the grandstand stage the 10-year 4-Hers will be honored at 4:45 p.m.
