This Year’s Elkhart County 4-H Fair Parade Will Take A Slightly Different Turn

The 2017 Elkhart County 4-H Fair Parade from Goshen’s Linway Plaza out to the fairgrounds will take a slightly different path through the downtown area Sunday, July 23.

But the parade, which annually draws out crowds along the route, will still be just as accessible to people who want to enjoy the spectacle.

Most years, the parade goes from Linway Plaza down Lincoln Avenue to Main Street, then south to Madison Street, where it again heads east toward the fairgrounds. This year, however, the parade will go south on Second Street, then head east at the Goshen Farmers Market on Washington Street. It will head down Washington Street to Main, where it will resume the traditional route.

And for people looking to drive to the fairgrounds to see the end of the parade at the Grandstands on the fairgrounds, they’ll be able to access the fair from the south entrance off College Avenue/C.R. 36 just east of the Goshen city limits.

The change in the route is to accommodate the Indiana Department of Transportation’s needs for detours for vehicular traffic during the parade, which was complicated by road work this year.

The 2017 Elkhart County 4-H Fair, “4-H, Generations of Farm Fresh Family Fun,” runs July 21-29.
