The RoboCars Are Coming To The Fair In Place Of The Turtles

Screen Shot 2016-06-28 at 10.35.59 AMRoboCars are coming to the Elkhart County 4-H Fair this year, bringing an exciting, new, unique performing attraction to please crowds of fairgoers.

The RoboCar concept was invented and created in the fall of 2009 by Ohio native Drew Beaumier to compete in high-prize costume contests.

“My childhood dream was to be a transforming robot, I would never have guessed it would become my job. If such young ambitions are possible, then anything is,” Beaumier said. “So forever follow them no matter the obstacles.”

Screen Shot 2016-06-28 at 10.35.33 AMThe RoboCars are costumes that actually drive, and they’re the closest thing we’ll find in real life to the big-screen and cartoon robots that change shape.

You won’t find them on the printed fair schedules this year (they’ll be on the schedule on the Elkhart County 4-H Fair “Fun Fair” app), because they’re a late addition to our lineup.

They replace the planned appearance by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who had to back out of their visit to this year’s fair due to circumstances beyond our control.

Screen Shot 2016-06-28 at 11.14.06 AMWhile it’s unfortunate the turtles won’t be able to come as we’d hoped, fair officials think the RoboCars will be an exciting and entertaining replacement that will appeal to all ages of fair guests.

Meijer will sponsor the RoboCars performances, which will happen Tuesday, July 26, through Saturday, July 30, in Heritage Park.
