Our Golf Outing’s Under Way, Now As A Memorial To Ginny Nichols

The first golf outing in 2004.

The 2015 Elkhart County 4-H Fair Golf Outing started today at Maplecrest Country Club in Goshen, and for the first year it has its new name: The Ginny Nichols Memorial 4-H Fair Golf Outing.

Ginny Nichols started the golf outing in 2004, the year she served as fair board president. She passed away nearly a year ago on Sept. 20, 2014, prompting the fair board to change the event’s name to honor Ginny Nichols.

And selling out with 36 four-person teams, it’s the largest golf outing in the 11 years of the event.

'04_golf_0466All proceeds from today’s tournament will go to the Elkhart County 4-H Club Corp. — on whose board Ginny Nichols also served — which entirely supports programs and projects for Elkhart County 4-H youths.

The outing began with registration at 10:30 a.m. and lunch at 11:30, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

  1. Thank you for posting this article honoring Ginny. She would be very happy and thankful that the Fair Board agreed to host the Golf Tournament and give all proceeds to the 4-H Program. This tournament will be a vital support for our 4-H program. Thank you.

  2. I attended the fair this year and noticed fabric work done by
Mildred Joder – I thought her work was very beautiful.

I would like to contact Mildred Yoder by email or phone. Any help with this contact information request would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Jim Cuddeback
