Sarah Stump and Rosalie Bontrager are this year’s fair queens.
Rosalie Bontrager, sponsored by the Elkhart County Extension Homemakers, became the 2014 Elkhart County 4-H Fair Senior Queen Friday morning, the opening day of the fair.
Bontrager has been involved with the Elkhart County Extension Homemakers for 40 years. She enjoys working at Essenhaus Inn and Conference Center, sewing, reading and listening to music. She and her husband Wilbur have been married 54 years. They have three children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Sarah Stump was named the 2014 Elkhart County 4-H Fair Queen Friday evening. Stump is Miss Elkhart County 4-H Swine Club. First runner-up in this year’s fair queen contest was Cassie VanDiepenbos, Miss Bread…It’s in the Bag. She also earned the title of Miss Congeniality. Second runner-up was Andrea Kline, Miss. Elkhart County Dairy Club. Third runner-up was Jessica Gordon, Miss Busy Bobcats 4-H Club. Fourth runner-up was Tori VanDiepenbos, Miss Jacksonians 4-H Club.
Stump attends NorthWood High School and has been involved in 4-H Sewing Club and Fashion Revue, 4-H Swine Club, NorthWood High School soccer, choir, principal’s honor roll, NorthWood cross country and track and field, student council, Nappanee First Brethren Church member, volunteer for “Children with a Difference” at Goshen Health Systems, volunteer for Faith Missions Elkhart.
Both queens will spend the rest of the fair speaking at different events, greeting fair visitors and taking in all aspects of the fair.
