Gabrielle Birr is the 2016 Elkhart County 4-H Fair Queen. The 18-year-old Nappanee woman is a NorthWood High School graduate and freshman at Indiana Wesleyan University.
She’s the daughter of Greg and Dawn Birr and a long-time 4-H Junior Leader.She’s been active in basketball and cross country, the Wakarusa Missionary Church youth group, FFA, Michiana Goat Breeders Association, Soup of Success volunteer, Feed the Children volunteer, Feed my Starving Children volunteer, vacation Bible school, Black Swish Basketball program volunteer, honor roll student, 10-year 4-H member in Panther Paws 4-H Club and member of the 4-H goat club.
“Never in a million years did I think I’d be here representing this community,” Birr said after winning out above 42 other ladies. “I’m really looking forward to this week.”
First runner-up was Tori VanDiepenbos; second runner-up was Kirsten Senn; third runner-up was Erin Garber; and Gale Immel, fourth runner-up, rounds out the court.
The 2016 Elkhart County 4-H Fair Senior Queen is Gloria Moser. She and her husband Ed, of Nappanee, will be celebrating their 44th anniversary during the fair. They have two children and two grandchildren.
Moser worked at MapleTronics for the past 15 years, teaches 3-year-olds in her church and worked at the WaNee Community School System for 15 years in the technology department.
“I am really excited, as well, to represent this community,” Moser said. “I was a nine-year 4-H member, my daughter was a 10-year 4-H member and my granddaughter is a four-year 4-H member.”
