Let Us Help You Avoid Parking Confusion

Enter here for parking …

With the all-new parking setup this year at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair, drivers are realizing that old habits are hard to break.

... not here.

… not here.

For years, the main entrance to the parking lots has been Gate 5 on C.R. 34 at the east end of the fairgrounds.

With our parking expansion and new, improved tram service, we’ve moved the entrance to the east to the new Gate 7.

It might make you nervous to keep going, since you can’t see Gate 7 from Gate 5, but we promise, it’s there.

When you see the irrigation rig on the right, you're almost there.

Keep heading east and you’ll find the all-new, four-lane entrance/exit at Gate 7. Follow the instructions from the friendly parking attendants, and then catch a tram to the main entrance gate north of the track, Gate G.

  1. Having been to the fair first thing this a.m., then leaving around 11:00. a.m., the confusion is by no means how & where to park –it was extremely difficult to figure out how to exit the area! Simple exit signs with arrows pointing toward an exit, hanging on the ropes/wires would be incredibly helpful.

  2. We parked in green C-D on the way out there is a pipe going under the drive and a large hole that is not marked. When it is dark it will be very hard to see and someone is going to drive in the hole and do damage to there vehicle. Would like to see this spot marked in some way. Thank you.

  3. Well maybe we should just park at the High School and walk over might be easier. Wow !

  4. It would be greatly appreciated if you could better mark the rows of parking. Very difficult to find a car in the parking area. You need to mark all rows somehow. Thank you.

  5. What is confusing is when you think you have parked in one lot (ex. Green lot labeled by a big sign), get on the tram that says it will take you to your lot, but then you are told when you get to the “green lot” that it is not even close to the green lot labeled with the big sign. You are then told that you actually parked in the red lot. If you are going to label the lots please take down the old signs.

  6. We had no problems. Got in quickly and left quickly. Thanks for the new trams!

  7. Exiting around 5:00 PM on Sunday was an absolute nightmare! Please re-think the exiting strategy.

We’re working on it, Connie. The next major improvement we have planned is a link to C.R. 36 which will help ease traffic congestion once we raise the money to get it built.

  8. Is the handicap parking still where it used to be at main entrance??

Vehicles with handicap tags or plates can enter parking at Gate 2 by the big sign and can enter the grounds through the gate next to the fair office, as has been the case for a long time.

  9. For 2016, if we enter at the new entrance on county road 36 will we be able to park in a southern parking lot? I want to be able to not travel further east when leaving after the concert, since we live west of Goshen.
