Today is the last day of the 2014 Elkhart County 4-H Fair, and while most of the animals left the grounds after yesterday’s record-breaking 4-H livestock auction, there is still plenty to do and see around the grounds.
The 4-H Dog Club had its costume and trick contests this morning, and open goat and open Holstein dairy shows will be ongoing through much of the day.
Several different food competitions are also set for today. The Best of Michiana Ribs Cook-Off starts at noon outside the lamb barn, while the Byler Lienhart Cook-Off starts there at 11:30 a.m. The Great Homemade Ice Cream Crank-Off contest is also at noon in the Home and Family Arts Building.
A Corvette exhibit will be in the swine barn. Motorcycle races will be the grandstand entertainment for much of the day until 7 p.m., when the demolition derby begins. Fireworks will celebrate the end of a successful 2014 fair week once it’s dark this evening.
