Food Drive Raises Nearly 47,000 Pounds

While we didn’t break the world with the one-day food drive, the Elkhart County community DID raise 23 1/2 TONS of food — nearly 2,000 pounds an hour — during the record attempt that started yesterday (Sunday, July 20) and ended today as part of the 2014 Elkhart County 4-H Fair.

The 46,962 pounds of donated food broke a record for Church Community Services, which had a previous record of 21,000 pounds of food raised in a single food drive.

CCS runs a food pantry and also the food bank of Elkhart County, and we’re not done supporting them.

TallyWe will continue to collect food through the end of the fair, with the donation link on our site remaining live through Saturday, the final day of this year’s fair.
