After nearly a decade of level pricing structure, the Elkhart County 4-H Fair will make adjustments for the 2018 event.
Beginning next summer, gate entry at the fairgrounds during the Fair’s 9-day run will move to $10, though children age 9-and-under will still admitted free of charge. Online and pre-sale Fair tickets have been set at $8, and as an added incentive, guests will be able to purchase online and pre-event tickets at local outlets during the entire run of the Fair. The only pre-sale outlet that will end selling the $8 ticket on July 19, 2018, will be the Elkhart County 4-H Fair office.
A vote by 4-H Fair board members in attendance unanimously approved the price recommendations during a Wednesday, Aug. 9 meeting.
As always, parking on the fairgrounds is free and grandstand seating for the concert series and other track events — harness racing, rodeo and demolition derby — will be free of charge. During Fair week, entry on Sundays remains free as are designated days for seniors and veterans.
In the past, all pre-event ticket sales were cut off once the Fair began. Fair tickets going back to 2008 had been $8 at the gate and $6 online and pre-sale.
The nine-day 2017 run from July 21 to July 29 resulted in 202,560 guests at the 4-H Fairgrounds, including a single-day high of 27,178 on Wednesday, July 26.
The 2018 Elkhart County 4-H Fair is set for July 20-28.
