While the heat index could reach the mid-90s today and even higher tomorrow, the Elkhart County 4-H Fair has plenty of opportunities to cool off.
Stop by the misting pedestal on Rotary Boulevard and hit the button for 20 seconds of cooling, or stop by the misting tent behind the park stage at the corner of Heritage Park, close to Young MacDonald’s barn.
If you need to duck inside someplace cool, try one of the air-conditioned health-system tents, or check out thousands of 4-H exhibits in the exhibit hall. Or stop next door and look at the fair’s history museum, or go the other direction into Ag Hall, all along the north end of the fairgrounds.
While you’re out and about, be sure and stop at one of the drinking fountains across the fairgrounds.
The fountains and air-conditioned sites are marked on the fair maps available on the grounds or at area merchants, and they’re also available on the fair app, available in the Apple App Store or Google Play.
By this evening’s Little River Band concert, we should be cooling back down to a more pleasant evening temperature.
The really good news is that, if the meteorologists’ predictions hold out, the final four days of the fair are expected to bring better weather.
