Custard Pie Will Be The 2015 President’s Baked Item

Screen Shot 2015-05-08 at 11.00.03 AMElkhart County Fair Board President Rich Utley announced that custard pie is his chosen dish for the 2015 President’s Baked Item contest at the fair.

Anyone older than 8 may enter. There is no registration or entry fee. Take entries to the 4-H Fairgrounds, 17746 C.R. 34, Goshen, at the Home & Family Arts Building July 23 from 11 to 11:45 a.m.

Outlay will begin judging at noon.

Participants may enter only one item accompanied by a neatly written, printed or typed recipe on an 8½-by-11-inch sheet of paper on one side only. Include name, address and telephone number on the back side of the recipe and the year and category entered.

Names will be covered during judging. One winner will be selected and receive a $10 prize.

All entries must be picked up by 1 p.m. Recipes become the property of the Elkhart County Extension Homemakers with the right to use them for fair publicity.

The Purdue Extension Elkhart County office prints an Open Class Home & Family Arts Department booklet each year with details about entering open class items.
