We also introduce new foods each year, and this year is no different, though perhaps the list of new items this year is bigger.
This year, the 4-H Poultry Club is partnering with Nelson’s on Keystone RV Famous Food Row. There will be chicken nuggets, waffle chicken sandwiches, chicken mac-and-cheese, chicken salad, a chicken dessert — chicken bites drizzled with dutch and white chocolate and sprinkled with cherry-smoked bacon — and, of course, fried chicken.
But there’s more: McGrath’s “The Best Around” stand by Heritage Park will have their all-new Funnel Bacon on a Stick. It is a thick strip of bacon put on a skewer, deep fried, then dipped in funnel cake batter, deep fried again to cook the batter, then topped with maple butter cream icing or Carmel or chocolate syrup.
Looking for something different when it comes to bacon? There’s always Pence’s new Deep Fried Peanut Butter and Bacon, which they’ll offer on Food Row near the Ferris Wheel.
And, of course, there are breakfast sandwiches coming this year from Auntie Anne’s, with a special 4-H-themed four-leaf clover-shaped pretzel bun. Those will be available at their booth near the fair office across from the northeast corner of Heritage Park at the north end of Food Row.
And, of course, this year is Indiana’s bicentennial, so fair organizers teamed with Pence concessions to offer the Hoosier Happy Birthday Pie: A deep-fried slice of Wick’s Sugar Cream Pie drizzled with caramel.
There are other delicious food surprises coming for the fair to join the already wonderful slate of options, but there will also be a new drink.
